Railway Museum - accessed from Burnley Road exhibits nine steam locomotives the oldest dating back to 1896. A 20A Class Garratt and a 15th Class Garratt amongst others are still in running condition. The original railway station which was to be part of the Cape to Cairo line has been preserved, along with some original equipment and signs used at the time. Open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8.30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 12 noon - 5 p.m. There is an entrance fee.

Centenary Park on Centenary Park Road and Leopold Takawira Avenue has large illuminated fountains, an aviary and children's play area. One could spend a day in the Park - light refreshments are available, or take a picnic.

Natural History Museum in Centenary Park is the largest in the southern hemisphere and reputed to have a collection of 75000 animals, birds and reptiles, (Not all on display at one time!), including the world's second largest mounted elephant. There is an artificial gold mine, and The Hall of Man exhibits early history covering hunting, war, healing and art. Open daily throughout the week (except Christmas day and Good Friday) 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Bulawayo National Art Gallery housed in a Victorian-era building is on the corner of Robert Mugabe Way and Leopold Takawira Avenue. The Gallery hosts visiting collections from time to time. Open daily 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Closed Mondays and Public holidays. Tel: 263-9-70721.

The Amakhosi Cultural Centre has an amphitheatre where performances of traditional song, dance and drama are given regularly.

Jairos Jiri Shop round the corner from the Art Gallery sells leather, macrame, crocheted, basket and bead work as well at carvings and cane furniture. The Jairos Jiri Association provides assistance and training for hundreds of disabled people. Outlets for the handicrafts they make are country-wide.

Mazwi Nature Reserve, a Municipal recreation Park 28 km west along 13th Avenue. Turn right at Khami Prison Road and continue for 6 km, turn right again and travel 6 km to the entrance. Game may be viewed from horseback. A small entrance fee is charged.

Mguza Nature Reserve also a Municipal recreation Park is 15 km along the Victoria Falls Road. Here variety of wildlife may be seen; walking, fishing and picnicking are permitted. A small entrance fee is charged.

Mzilikazi Art and Craft Centre, Taylor Avenue off the Old Falls Road is a non profit-making but self-supporting pottery and art studio which produces high quality hand-thrown earthenware and stoneware. The visitor may look at the showrooms and see people at work. Open Mondays to Fridays from 8.30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Closed for lunch.

Bulawayo Home Industries Centre in the same complex as Mzilikazi Craft Centre, produces weaving, needlework, basketware, batiks, embroidery and other ethnic crafts for sale. Open Mondays to Fridays from 8.30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Closed for lunch.
