Ngezi Recreational Park and Nature Reserve: approximately sixty-three square kilometers in size and comes under National Parks and Wildlife. The Park's focal point is Ngezi Dam where there are self-catering Lodges and camping/caravan facilities. To have your own boat would be a great asset. Bream and Bass fishing is good, bird life is prolific and there are nature trails in the wilderness area. Beware of leaving edibles unguarded; pesky monkeys invade the camp to steal food.
Getting There: Travel along the main Harare/Bulawayo road and turn off onto the tarred road to go south about 2 km west of Selous. The distance from the turn-off to Ngezi is approximately 90 km. It is also accessible from Mvuma and the Harare/Beit Bridge Road.
What to Pack: Take sun barrier cream, mosquito repellant, wide-brimmed hats, and dark glasses. Suitable clothing would be cool, cotton garments and light cover-up clothing for evenings. Go with a supply of drinking water and as a precaution, boil tap water intended for drinking. Children would benefit from having a portable splash-pool. |
