RESTAURANTS Harare, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, Nyanga, Great Zimbabwe and Mutare/Bvumba offer a good range of cuisine and setting. There are restaurants in hotels, you could eat in a boma, a gazebo, in a garden or a house converted into a nooky restaurant. Traditional dishes appear on some menus - thick maize porridge with a vegetable relish or meat stew, crocodile tail and venison are sometimes on offer, while our Nyanga trout and Kariba bream would meet the approval of any gourmet. SHOPPING Trading hours are Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Saturdays are from 8 am to 1 pm. In a majority of outlets the Zimbabwe dollar is no longer accepted. Shops, supermarkets and street vendors now require payment in US$ or South African Rand. These are now our official currency. Visitors need to bring cash to cover all expenses. Credit cards and travellers' cheques are not payment options at this point of time. |
