The Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. At Victoria Falls Craft Village authentic traditional structures used by people in different regions of Zimbabwe are brought together. It is a place where you will see history come alive. Living quarters, grain storage bins and structures from Bushmen, the Batonka, Bavenda, Shangaan, Shona and Ndebele cultures have been re-created. Craftsmen are at work making their implements and also curios, which are on sale. It is open to visitors throughout the week.
A host of curio shops cluster along the same road, creating a festive, holiday atmosphere. View the Falls from Zambia. A walk along the road/railway bridge into Zambia rewards the visitor with a unique opportunity to see the Eastern Cataract from a promontory reached by a foot-bridge. The general visa fee for non-Zimbabweans is US25. Zimbabweans may enter free but should carry some form of ID. Temperatures are more comfortable early rather than late in the day. To take a bottle of drinking water would be a good idea. A Baobab tree reputed to be 1,500 years old with a trunk 60m in circumference still stands, marking the turning point of Zambezi Drive. The drive follows the River upstream from Victoria Falls car park then cuts back to town. |
