Day Trips

White-water Rafting is some of the best in the world. Visitors, experts and novices, thrill as they shoot the rapids. Visitors may either join a group of 5 - 8 others in a rubber dingy (including a professional oarsman), or go it alone in a kayak.

Bungee Jumping. If your adrenaline does not peak with white-water rafting, there is the ultimate leap of faith from the Victoria Falls Bridge - one of the worlds highest commercial bungee jumps. (95m above the gorge at high water, 110m at low water)

A boat cruise on the River will generally be rewarded with sightings of hippo pods, and sometimes crocodile. The "booze cruise" is one of the popular ways to watch the sun go down - a great start to the evening's entertainment.

A Flight over the Falls, estimated by many as the highlight of their visit, gives the visitor a bird's-eye view, enabling them to fully appreciate the enormity of nature's amazing wonder.

Canoe safaris above the Victoria Falls allow visitors to experience the tranquil, unspoiled beauty of the Zambezi River. Gentle rapids punctuate the ride.

Crocodile Farm. Ever held a baby crocodile? At Victoria Falls you could do this.

General Interest.

Should you use the golf course, you would have the added attraction of sharing it with wild animals grazing.

Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Company in England built the Rail/road Bridge crossing the gorge linking Zimbabwe and Zambia with 2,000 tons of steel. The components were shipped to then Rhodesia and re-assembled. It has a main-arch span of 152m.

With the development of the railway came the arrival of tourists and in June 1904 a row of wood and iron rooms and two wood and iron flats were opened for overnight stays.

An eighty-four-year-old American widower, unable to bear the loss of his wife, made the long journey by road, sea and rail to leap to his death from the bridge.
